Accomodation & Visa & Safety | Erasmus

Accommodation, Health & Safety Information for Incoming Erasmus Students

Accommodation

  • Incoming Erasmus students are eligible to stay in specific university-affiliated dormitories. These dormitories offer safe, comfortable, and well-equipped living spaces. Options typically include double, triple, or quadruple rooms, with facilities such as 24/7 security, hot water, internet, study rooms, and laundry services.
  • Dormitory places are limited and cannot be guaranteed for every student. Early application increases your chances of securing a place. If you wish to stay in a university dormitory, you should contact the Erasmus Office and ESNÇAĞ after receiving your acceptance letter to reserve a room.

Health Insurance

  • All incoming Erasmus students are required to obtain valid health insurance that covers their entire stay in Turkey. This is a legal obligation and necessary for both your safety and for obtaining a residence permit.

Visa (Residence Permit)

  • All incoming Erasmus students who will stay in Turkey for more than 90 days are required to apply for a residence permit within 30 days of arrival, regardless of their citizenship or visa exemption status

·  The residence permit application is completed online at the Directorate General of Migration Management’s website https://e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr/)

·    Required documents for the residence permit application include:

  • Completed residence permit application form (printed from the online system)
  • Valid passport (with a validity at least 60 days beyond the intended stay) and photocopies of relevant pages
  • Four recent biometric photographs
  • Student certificate/enrolment letter from the university
  • Proof of valid health insurance covering the entire stay
  • Receipt of residence permit card fee payment
  • Proof of accommodation (e.g., dormitory confirmation, rental contract, or hotel reservation)

The Erasmus Office typically assists students with the application process, but students are responsible for preparing and submitting all documents.

·  After the online application, students may need to visit the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management to provide fingerprints and finalize the process

·  Students must apply for an extension at least 60 days before their current permit expires if they plan to stay longer

Safety

  • University dormitories and affiliated private dormitories provide 24/7 security, controlled access, and safe living environments.
  • In case of emergencies, students can benefit from the university’s health, culture, and sports departments, which provide access to doctors and psychologists.
  • Dormitories are located at Mersin. For further details please contact us from Erasmus@cag.edu.tr
