About Erasmus+ KA171 Non-European Mobility

The Erasmus+ KA171 International Credit Mobility (ICM) program enables academic and administrative staff from higher education institutions outside the European Union (non-European or “Partner Countries”) to participate in exchange activities with European universities. This program aims to foster international cooperation, enhance professional development, and support knowledge exchange between European and non-European institutions

Who Can Apply?

  • Academic and administrative staff from higher education institutions in non-European (Partner) Countries.
  • The applicant’s home and host institutions must have a valid inter-institutional agreement under the KA171 project before the mobility begins

Types of Mobility

  • Staff Mobility for Teaching: Academic staff can deliver lectures, participate in seminars, or engage in other teaching-related activities at the host institution.
  • Staff Mobility for Training: Both academic and administrative staff can participate in training, job-shadowing, workshops, or professional development activities

Application Process

  • Contact the International Office or Erasmus Office at your home institution to check if there is an active KA171 partnership with the desired European university.
  • Required documents typically include:
    • Application form
    • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
    • Copy of passport
    • Invitation or acceptance letter from the host institution
    • Mobility Agreement (Teaching or Training), signed by both institutions
    • Language proficiency certificate (if required by the host institution)
  • Applications are assessed according to the project’s selection criteria and available quotas.

Duration and Funding

  • The mobility duration is generally short-term, often ranging from 5 days to 2 months, depending on the agreement and project specifics
  • Participants receive financial support for travel and subsistence costs. The amount varies based on the distance between the home and host institutions and the program’s funding rules

  • Grants are intended as a contribution to travel and living expenses, not as full coverage of all costs.

Before and After Mobility

  • Before the mobility, participants must submit all required documents and agreements to both home and host institutions.
  • After the mobility, a certificate of attendance and a final report are usually required to complete the process and receive the remaining grant payment
