Staff Mobility for Teaching

Staff Mobility for Teaching Assignments (STA) enables academic staff from Turkish higher education institutions that hold an ECHE (Erasmus Charter for Higher Education) to engage in teaching and collaborative academic activities at a partner HEI (also holding an ECHE) in program countries.

To be eligible, the host institution must be either a Programme Country HEI with an ECHE or a Partner Country HEI recognized by competent authorities and must have an inter-institutional agreement in place with the sending institution before the mobility starts. A list of Erasmus partners can be accessed online.

STA is calculated on a daily basis, and grants are provided only for days on which teaching occurs. Therefore, the mobility agreement must outline a daily teaching schedule. Provided grants are as followed

Main objectives of STA include:

  • Supporting the personal and professional growth of teaching staff,
  • Facilitating knowledge exchange in specific academic areas, enhancing mutual understanding of European educational systems, and reinforcing the European dimension in education,
  • Providing students who cannot participate in mobility with access to international academic expertise.

Duration Guidelines: Mobility can range from a minimum of 2 days, not counting travel time. However, to increase access and ensure broader participation, the International Office limits the maximum STA duration to 5 days (excluding travel time).

Participants are required to teach a minimum of 8 hours per week (or for any shorter stay, a proportional amount). For example, a 2-week activity must include at least 16 hours of teaching. If the total duration is less than 2 days or the teaching hours fall below the minimum, the mobility is deemed invalid and no grant will be provided.

Application Process: Applications are accepted once per year for the upcoming academic year. Details about the application process are announced on the website.
